death with dignity |
"If I cannot give consent to my own death, whose body is this? Who owns my life?" - Sue Rodriguez

Liberty is a concept that identifies that each individual has the freedom to live, and die, according to our own desires and beliefs. The true question that dignity with death supporters ask is "who's life is it to decide my own fate"?
Dignity in death is often referred to as physician assisted suicide but in fact, the right to live or die is not doctor prescribed. Everyday in which we live, we all have the right - by numerous available means. The dignity with death movement advocates for patients to have the right to decide a more humane means in which to hasten death.
From the information below you can find some of my work related to the issue and why it is important to me that everyone is entitled the liberties of choices regarding ones own life, or death. You can also check out my Editor's Note for more about my writing experiences in this class.

“If you don't have liberty and self-determination, you've got nothing, that's what this country is built on, and this is the ultimate self-determination, to determine when and how you're going to die when you're suffering.”
