editor's note
“Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happy” is a play on words encompassing the major issues discussed throughout this magazine. The issues being explored here include: Immigration reform, physician assisted suicide, mental health/depression, and Privacy deterioration in America. The title is meant to express the American dream, which is what America was founded on, while simultaneously connecting all topics that will flesh out the contents within. Most American's today would argue that the Constitutional freedoms and liberties we have are inherent rights owned and owed to us by our Government. However, as American’s we need to remember that our own history towards civilization isn’t founded on inherent rights; but in fact, founded in the basis of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; all of which is currently an urgent issue when addressing the need for immigration reform that we see today. In a collaboration of 13 submissions by our group members you will find different examples about the importance of life, having the liberty to live without fear or knowing that someone is watching all of your moves and being happy. It is our hope that these points are delivered in a clear, visually stylish, and entertaining way by using various mediums to give a fully enriched picture of these social issues. Whether we agree or disagree on certain topics we feel we bring four fresh looks into issues affecting what has quickly been understood to be the American way of life. Through collaboration and collective research efforts we have been able to intertwine our topics into a cohesive package that we feel represents the American dream slogan clearly. Each submission has been reviewed and evaluated by each group member so that it best represents our collective goal.
